In 1988, the darkest year of the Ceaușescu dictatorship, the devoutly religious Mária gives birth to a critically ill child. Going against the doctors’ advice, she resolves to keep her daughter alive at all costs. The decision, however, forces her to reassess her most deep-seated values and beliefs.
